Violaine Collas is a French perfumer based in Paris who trained at ISIPCA, the perfumery school in the Versailles area, studying alongside future colleagues in the company of established noses such as Dominique Ropion and Maurice Roucel. She came to fine fragrance through Ropion's mentorship early in her career, spent time working in Germany and the United States, and passed through the personal-care side of the business before returning to fine perfumery.

In 2011 she joined Mane, where she works as a senior perfumer in the fine fragrance division. Her method is unusually visual: she often begins from a color, a painting, or a remembered image and leans on mood boards, then constructs a composition from deliberately opposed accords that she gradually reconciles into balance. She has described smelling blindly, with eyes closed, as the surest way to train the nose, and has spoken of juggling as many as twenty projects at once, with timelines that run from a single trial to three years.

Across a broad client list she has composed for houses including Amouage, Atkinsons, Lalique, Dolce & Gabbana, BDK Parfums, Etat Libre d'Orange, Carolina Herrera, L'Occitane and Trussardi. Signature works include Amouage Honour Woman, Atkinsons 24 Old Bond Street, Lalique's Noir Premier collection, Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Garden and BDK Parfums Crème de Cuir. Materials she returns to often include jasmine, rose, orange blossom, vanilla, musk, mandarin and patchouli.
