Biography

Thomas Kosmala is a Polish-born perfumer who founded and lends his name to the niche house Thomas Kosmala. Multiple industry sources describe him as both the brand owner and the nose behind its compositions, rather than a figurehead working through hired perfumers. His path into fragrance ran from an early interest in aromatherapy oils in London to the study of classical perfumery in Paris, where he became drawn to the emotional power of blending raw materials.

The house pairs traditional luxury perfume-making with a deliberately modern, molecular sensibility, leaning on high-quality naturals alongside captive and synthetic materials. Kosmala centers the work in an independent laboratory in the South of France, where the collection is created and refined, while positioning the brand's public seat in London.

His catalog is compact and numbered, with the earliest release dated to 2014 and the line growing steadily since. Among the best known is No. 4 Après l'Amour (2018), a woody-aromatic scent built around citrus, orange blossom, spice, and a musk-amber-woods base. In 2023 the house signed a North American distribution deal with The PCA Group, expanding its reach in the United States.
