Mathilde Laurent is a French perfumer best known as the in-house nose of Cartier. She grew up in Paris in a family with artistic leanings, and was first steered toward perfumery as a teenager before pursuing it in earnest. After earning a university-level qualification in chemistry and physics, she trained at ISIPCA, the perfumery school in Versailles, which remains one of the field's most prestigious pathways.

She began her career in the early 1990s as an apprentice under Jean-Paul Guerlain, and went on to spend roughly eleven years at the house of Guerlain. Among her creations from that period is Herba Fresca, a bright green composition she has linked to childhood memories of her grandfather's garden.

Laurent joined Cartier in 2005 and has served as the maison's dedicated in-house perfumer since 2006, an unusually free brief that lets her develop the house's fragrances on her own terms. Her Cartier work includes the lily-driven Baiser Volé (2006), L'Heure Vertueuse, L'Envol, and the oud-focused Les Heures Voyageuses collection. She is also recognized within the industry as one of the perfumery experts associated with the Grand Musée du Parfum in Paris.
