Erwin Creed is the seventh-generation perfumer of the House of Creed, the dynastic Anglo-French fragrance house that has passed its craft from father to son since 1760. He is the son of sixth-generation master perfumer Olivier Creed, and the two worked as co-creative directors, developing and overseeing the brand's compositions together.

By his own account, Erwin grew up inside the family laboratory in Fontainebleau, watching his father blend perfume, and attempted his first composition as a young child. He went on to work from that same laboratory, traveling to source raw materials directly from growers and framing Creed's releases in the language of the wine world, borrowing the idea of the 'millésime' to stress craftsmanship and quality.

Among the fragrances credited to his collaboration with Olivier are Virgin Island Water, Love in White, Fleurs de Gardenia, Original Vétiver and Himalaya. He has also spoken about the runaway success of Aventus (2010), noting that the fragrance's popularity helped fund the house's retail expansion, including its New York boutique. It should be noted that some of Creed's in-house authorship claims have been publicly disputed, with perfumer Pierre Bourdon credited by others for work on several house scents.
