Christophe Raynaud is a French perfumer whose training began at ISIPCA in Versailles in 1990; while a student he also worked part-time under Michel Almairac at Créations Aromatiques, absorbing his early technique from that mentorship. He took his first formal perfumer post in 1993 as a junior perfumer at Drom Fragrances International, then moved to Symrise around 2000, before joining Givaudan in 2007, where he has since risen to Vice President Perfumer of Fine Perfumery.

His career pivoted in 2008 with Paco Rabanne 1 Million, a fragrance he has said reshaped his working life in ways he never anticipated. The scent's enduring commercial run was formally recognized in 2025, when The Fragrance Foundation inducted 1 Million Eau de Toilette into its Fragrance Hall of Fame, with Raynaud credited alongside fellow perfumers Michel Girard and Olivier Pescheux. In the years after that breakout, his name attached to a wide run of mainstream releases, among them Lancôme La Nuit Trésor, Mugler Aura Mugler, and Jean Paul Gaultier's Scandal line, along with work for houses including Yves Saint Laurent, Guerlain, Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Carolina Herrera and Versace.

Raynaud describes his working method less as invention than as carving: he starts from a dense, unresolved olfactory block and reduces it over many sessions into a finished accord, likening the process to sculpture. Interviews and house profiles point to a recurring palette across his output — bergamot and mandarin openings giving way to clary sage, orange blossom, leather, vanilla and sandalwood in the base — geared toward compositions he wants to read as bold and immediately recognizable rather than quiet. Databases crediting his output put the tally at well over one hundred released fragrances, spanning designer, celebrity and niche lines built during his time at Drom, Symrise and Givaudan.
