Biography
Bérénice Watteau is a French perfumer working for DSM-Firmenich. She grew up in a household that emphasized creativity and the arts, and came to perfumery through a scientific and technical education, holding a chemistry background and graduating from the ISIPCA perfumery school in 2014, with additional study of perfume marketing at ESSEC.
She began her industry career as a junior perfumer at Puig in Barcelona around 2018 before joining DSM-Firmenich's in-house perfumery school, where she trained under established mentors and split time between Paris, London, and New York. She later relocated to the United States.
Watteau describes a synesthetic way of working, perceiving scents as shapes, colors, and textures, and gravitates toward contradictions and unexpected pairings in her compositions. Her credits span mass and niche brands, and in the niche world she is the nose behind several House of Cosmo releases, including the mineral, salt-and-cedar Lunar Minérale (2025).
